This afternoon, we visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The Normans built a church in stone on this site in 1191. It was rebuilt in the early 13th Century and is the building we see today. Here, Jonathan Swift, the author of ‘Gulliver’s Travels’, was Dean from 1713-1745. Handel’s, ‘Messiah’, was first performed here for the first time in 1742. In the evening we went to an early cinema showing of ‘Harry Potter and the Death Hallows: Part 2′. Of course, it was all in English, so it was good practice for our students.
