Tonight was Culture Night and Disco combined. The European groups didn’t prepare anything, so it was just the 2 Japanese groups. One Morimura Gakuen student presented some karate moves and then the group danced ‘Soranbushi’. They did very well. After that, the Capitanio girls danced to the music ‘Butterfly’ in their yukata. They, also, did a very good job. After the girls danced once, the second time they invited the other students to join them. ?It was very lively. Many Italian students were taking pictures with our students, who were really cute in their summer kimonos. After the Japanese presentations the DJ started the disco music and everyone danced and enjoyed themselves.

This afternoon we went to Trinity College and the Book of Kells. The Book of Kells has a beautifully decorated copy , in Latin, of the four gospels. It was probably done in the 9th century by the monks of Iona and Kells in county Meath. The Book of Kells was sent to Dublin around 1653. ?After seeing the Books of Kell we entered ino the Long Room, which is the main chamber of the Old Library. There we saw the oldest harp in Ireland, which is now used as the symbol for Ireland. It dates from the 15th century. This harp appears on the Irish Euro coins. The library is 65 meters long and has over 200,000 of the oldest books in Dublin in it. After viewing this, we had time for shopping. ?The Cultural Evening, which was scheduled for tonight, ?has been moved to tomorrow evening. Tonight, we will come to school and watch a DVD together: Dr. Doolittle 3. ?

Today I took pictures of the girls in their classrooms during 1st and 2nd period classes. We had a free afternoon, so some students played basketball and volleyball, some danced, and others played games, like: ?Uno, Stack and Connect 4. ?Elizabeth, the ECI person in charge here, let us use the games. ?It was a nice day until 5pm. At around five it started to rain. Thanks to the rain Ireland is very green. Tomorrow, about 30 Spanish students will be returning to Spain. Our students will miss them. ?

This afternoon we went to Dublin Castle and saw a 13th century round tower and the oldest parts of the castle walls. We also saw the park behind the castle. Some sand sculpturing was taking place at the castle. In the evening we had Irish music night. There were songs, sing-alongs, and dancing. Some Irish dancers performed for us and taught some of the dances. The girls enjoyed it. ?

This afternoon was a free one for the girls. A few students played sports, and a big number of our Capitanio students worked on making things out of clay. They also practiced the dance they will do on Thursday evening for Culture Night. It was warm and sunny today, so I took some pictures of around the school. There is also a picture of the place where students and teachers staying at St. Raphaela’s Residence have their noon meal. The school grounds here are beautifully kept and are very green. ?(Sorry, some pictures from yesterday remained.)
