Last Day Aug. 4-5, 2013

Sunday morning we left St. Raphaela’s at 6:20. Check-in went smoothly. We arrived

safely at Nagoya. The Etihad flight was a very long one. But we are home safe now and have

our memories of Ireland. ?

Yesterday evening, after I had already made the blog, there was a double rainbow in

the sky. It was beautiful. This morning was free for students to pack their suitcases

or go shopping. This afternoon at 3:0, we saw the performance of Riverdance. The

music and dancing were fabulous. Tomorrow we have to be on the bus to the airport

at 6:15 in the morning. It will be a long day. ?Good-bye, Ireland!

Today was our last day at the language school, so there were tears and goodbyes.

There was a final party for all the students who are leaving this weekend. (About 80

will leave.) Some of our students were given a prize for best dancer, best music

player, best smile and best journal. Then students were given their certificates of

participation by Mr. Mauro Biondi, the Director of the Emerald Cultural Institute.

After this students were free to play sports, do games, or go shopping in the City

Centre. ?Tomorrow will be our last day in Ireland.

This afternoon, we had Harry Potter Games. It was difficult to understand the rules

at first, but eventually everyone understood and had a good time. This evening was

the Disco dance. The staff dressed up and some students came as a monkey, a tiger,

and superman. Our students were in their yukata at first, but changed so that they

could dance more freely. Everyone thought they looked beautiful. All the students

enjoyed the dancing.?

This afternoon we walked in the rain to visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The Normans

built a church in stone on this site in 1191. This was rebuilt in the early 13h century

and is the building we see today. Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver’s Travels, was

Dean from 1713. Handel’s ‘Messiah’ was first performed here in 1742. It was sung

together by both the St. Patrick’s Choir and the Christchurch Cathedral Choir.

In the evening we had a movie night at the Dundrum Shopping Center Cinema. We

saw ‘The Smurfs 2′ with 3D glasses. The girls enjoyed the movie. It was sunny when

we went home.?
