Aug. 6, 2016
Today was our last full day in Ireland. This afternoon, we went to see “Riverdance”. This show has been running for 21 years. We all enjoyed it. Tomorrow we leave Ireland.
Aug. 5, 2016
Today was the last day of classes. In the afternoon there was a farewell party. Students received Certificates of Participation from the Director of the Emerald Cultural Institute: Mr. Mauro Biondi. Other awards were also given. On of the Capitanio girls won the “Best Gaelic Sport Player” prize. After the awards there were some games and then some of the Italian students played the piano and another sang a song for us. They were very good. After this there were refreshments and goodbyes.
Aug. 4, 2016
This morning I was able to take pictures of the girls in their classrooms. In the afternoon, we had a Circus workshop and learned to juggle, balance a plate on a stick, and balance long peacock feathers on our fingers. After this they had a drama workshop. In the evening we went to the Leisureplex in Stillorgan and played Quasar, which is a laser game. There was the red team and the blue team. The blue team won. Everyone enjoyed it.
Aug. 3, 2016
This afternoon we visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral which dates back from 1220. The first performance of Handel’s “Messiah” was sung here. The stained glass windows are beautiful. Behind the cathedral is a lovely small park.
Aug. 2, 2016
This afternoon our students watched part of a Harry Potter movie, and then during Chat Zone they discussed what kind of movies they liked and learned new vocabulary connected to movies: sequel, subtitles, etc. This evening at 8 pm we arrived at Dun Laoghaire and walked down to the end of the pier. On the way back, they bought ice cream form ‘Teddy’s’. They enjoyed the ice cream and the seaside.
